Happy Halloween

The boys were greeted this morning with a spooky breakfast treat before school.

Boo milk, Monster cereal & Jack-O-Latern OJ (nothing fancy) – Just a treat to kick off Halloween.

Trick or Treating was so much fun.  Here are our random mix of costumes.

#1 insisted on being a zombie – I used baby powder for the base, my plum lipstick under his eyes, gray eyeshadow around his eyes and black eye liner for the stich marks. $0  I made fake blood (see below) for his mouth.

#2 Iron Man/BatMan – We already had the mask

#3 SuperMan – we already had the shirt and blue pants.  I made the red briefs and boot covers out of a shirt that Hubby was giving away and the cape cost $1.

#4 Soldier – already had the black shirt and camo pants.  Bought the vest and accessories from the Dollar Tree $3

For the blood I simply used 1tablespoon of corn syrup, 1 drop of blue and 3 drops of red food coloring, then stirred it all together.

Quick Meal

Tonights dinner was quick and easy.  I sauteed sausages, onions and bell peppers in olive oil.

I lightly coated the pan with olive oil then browned the sliced sausages and shook on some seasoning.  I added the red onions and bell peppers, stirred and covered, then left the pan on low until ready to serve with white rice.

What’s For Dinner

This weeks dinner will feature quick warm and cozy meals because the weather is changing.

Quick Homemade Pot Pie

Sausage, Onion, Bell Peppers w/ Rice

Breakfast for Dinner

Crock Pot Chili

One day I not long ago I was stumped trying to find something fast to cook before football practice.  I scanned the cupboards and frig and threw together a quick meal that surprisingly satisfied the boys.  I used:

1 can of cresent rolls

1/2 bag of frozen peas & carrots

2 cans of cream of chicken

2 large can of chicken breast

To start, I placed the peas and carrots in a small pot of boiling water until tender.

Next I took my glass 9×11 baking pan and emptied my 2 cans of cream of chicken, canned chicken breast and my now cooked peas & carrots then stirred until it was all mixed together.  I spread it evenly across the pan then laid my cresent rolls on top.

Baked for 20 minutes and viola!  Easy peasy chicken pot pie.

Date Night with the Boys

Fridays are movie night at our house.  We always go to the Dollar Tree and pick our favorite sweet treat and pop some popcorn.  I always try to get a RedBox code for a free movie or we find something new on NetFlix.  I love spending this time with them.

This weeks featured film was After Earth with Will & Jaden Smith. The movie was a SciFi with a father/son relationship story line.  It was decent.  I actually had to watch it twice because P & C feel asleep half way thru the movie, but Kirs & Itty Bitty watched to whole movie with me.  This afternoon Dad, P & C wanted to finish up the movie, so I just watched it again.

Foaming Soap

In my house we go thru A LOT of hand soap with 6 people.  A while ago I found this great solution for refilling my foaming soap dispensers on Pinterest and decided to try it.  It worked perfectly and I’ve been doing it every since.

You simply get an empty foaming soap dispenser or buy one from the Dollar Tree for $1.00.  I got this baby wash for $1.00 at Aldi.  All you do is use a very small amount, about a tablespoon (I never measured) and then fill the rest with water.  One bottle of baby wash goes a long way.

I also use it to refill Itty Bitty’s bath pump.  We play with the suds, bathe with it and use it to wash his hair.

Fall Fun

So, the government has reopened and I have returned to work.  Happy that I am back to earning an income, sad that I will be leaving my babies.  I have really enjoyed being at home baking, picking the kids up from school, playing with the itty bitty, helping with homework, getting to a lot of necessary deep cleaning and just being around for the boys.

Yesterday I was taking my itty bitty for a morning walk around the neighborhood.  We looked at the decorations, listened to the birds chirping, the dogs barking and admiring nature.  Once again… I LOVE FALL.  I could not resist stopping to take a picture of this beautiful tree.

Since there was no football practice yesterday we decided we need to carve our pumpkin.

It was a nice brisk evening so for dinner we had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.  We also watched the cutest new Toy Story Halloween special that came on ABC.  We will miss It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown this year because we will be out Trick or Treating.  Oh well maybe next year.

Universal Studios

Today it was off to Universal Studios and we had so much fun!

We rode the new Transformers ride and it was AWESOME!  The Mummy rollcoaster is the one that I was waiting on and once again it did not disappoint.

Since the park closed at 5:00 pm due to Halloween Horror Nights we spent our remaining time in Simpsons Land.

SN:  Our entire family won a raffle at the resort that we were staying at and we will be able to return sometime in the next year and only pay $16 per night per room.  I can’t wait for the next family get-a-way 🙂
